The footer is an important part of your Shopware 6 shop that allows you to provide useful information and links for your visitors. In this step-by-step guide, you will learn how to edit the footer in Shopware 6 to improve the visibility of your content while maintaining a professional appearance. The footer of a website or online shop is a crucial area that is often overlooked but fulfils important functions. It provides space for essential information such as contact details, legal information, navigation links and social media links.
A well-designed footer ensures a consistent website aesthetic and makes navigation easier for users. It is important that it is responsive, works on different devices and is kept up to date. By strategically editing and optimising the footer, you contribute to a better user experience, the credibility of your website and search engine optimisation.
Below you can find out how to customise the footer in your shop in just a few steps.
First log in to the administration of your shop by calling up the following link in your browser: "https://shopdomain.de/admin". After successfully logging in, you will be redirected to the administration of your shop.
Then click in the left side menu on the menu item "Catalogues"-"Categories". The category structure forms the basis for a clear footer menu. First create a new category for the footer navigation. To do this, call up the context menu by clicking on the button with the 3 dots ("..."). Then click on "New category after". A new category is then created after the existing menu. You can enter the name for the category in the field that appears. For example, name this category Footer navigation or Footer menu so that you can easily recognise it in the future.
If you have created the main category "Footer navigation" or "Footer menu", you can create new subcategories by clicking on the context menu next to the newly created category.
For example, create a subcategory called "Terms and Conditions and Legal" to link to a page with your terms and conditions and other legal information. Customers can then quickly access important legal information. You could also add a "Contact and Help" subcategory where you place links to contact information, customer support or return policies. This page offers customers various ways to get support when needed.
Another possible subcategory is "About Us", where you provide insights into your company history, values or mission and introduce team members. This page allows customers to learn more about your company and make a more personal connection. In addition, you can add a subcategory "FAQ" where your customers can find answers to frequently asked questions on topics such as orders, shipping, returns and more. The FAQ section makes it easier for customers to help themselves quickly and ensures a smooth buying experience.
Through these carefully selected subcategories, you create a structured and user-friendly footer navigation that makes it easier for visitors to access important information and improves the overall experience on your website.
Now that you have created the desired structure for the footer navigation, you still need to define which content or shop page should appear after clicking on the respective subcategory. To do this, click on the corresponding subcategory in the category tree you have just created and then click on the tab "Layout". Under "Layout assignment", click on the button "Change layout" and choose the layout that should be displayed for the corresponding Shopping World. If you have not yet created a Shopping World or shop page that should appear when you click on "About us", for example, you can do this in your administration by clicking in the left side menu on "Content"-"Shopping Experiences".
Once you have created the footer navigation with the desired content, click on the respective sales channel to which you would like to link the footer content in the left-hand side menu under "Sales channels". The basic settings of the sales channel are then displayed. In the basic settings, scroll down a little to the setting "Entry point for footer navigation". Here you can select the category that you created in step 2 and that you want to use as the entry point for the footer menu.
By following these 5 steps, you can easily create a footer navigation in Shopware 6. This allows you to improve the user-friendliness of your website, make important pages and content accessible in the footer and offer your shop visitors an optimal navigation experience.
